AUSSIE cricket legend Shane Warne and his partner, actress and supermodel Liz Hurley, kicked off the 2013 Ashes season with a star-studded charity match in Cirencester at the weekend.

The 20/20 match at Cirencester Park saw a squad of England legends including Andrew Strauss, Michael Vaughan and Darren Gough take on a team made up of Australian luminaries such as Merv Hughes, Neil Harvey and Warne himself.

The event raised money for Hop, Skip and Jump – a Bristol centre caring for children with special needs and their families – and the Shane Warne Foundation, which helps sick and underprivileged youngsters in Australia.

The match – which conveniently ended in a tie at 207 for seven each – was enjoyed by more than 3,000 spectators, including a plethora of celebrities.

Warne himself took the tea break to grant Ishpal Singh, a seriously ill 18-year-old from Wembley, his wish of being bowled at for an over by his hero.

Ms Hurley took to Twitter after the event to say: “Wow-fab day. Shattered now. Thanks to everyone who made #cricketforkids such a special day.”
